King’s College London working with Oxford Computer Group select ILM 2007 and Omada Identity Manager to ease staff and student identity administration

London, February 5, 2008– Oxford Computer Group (OCG) and Omada, partners and leading Microsoft Solution Providers for Identity and Access Management and Advanced Role Based Access Control, today announced that King’s College London, one of the top 25 universities in the world, the fourth oldest in England and a member of the prestigious Russell Group, has successfully deployed Microsoft Identity Lifecycle Manager (ILM) and Omada Identity Manager (OIM) to provide a dramatically improved automatic provisioning and role-based user management system.

King's has 20,000 students and the enrolment process that enables the provisioning of access to multiple resources, systems and services can be demanding and resource intensive. The combination of ILM and the award-winning OIM, makes a compelling joint solution: OIM offers a delegated administrative interface that matches King’s existing registration processes, whilst providing enhanced workflow and role management capabilities, whilst ILM connects to the many underlying databases and directories at King's and fulfils requests initiated in OIM.

“Like many organisations, King’s College London is looking to improve and streamline its identity management processes. With its highly flexible and user-friendly architecture, Omada Identity Manager will provide us with a robust and supportable system, and an extensible platform which can be enhanced to meet our longer term needs,” said Lynne Tucker, CTO of King’s College. “The identity management environment at Kings is highly complex and OCG’s experience, expertise and determination played a huge part in the success of this project.”

King’s College engaged identity management specialists Oxford Computer Group to implement the solution. OCG has extensive experience and a track record of implementing the combined Microsoft and Omada solution with leading global enterprises.

"This was a very rewarding engagement," said Dave Nesbitt, lead solution architect with OCG. "We had to replace a venerable home-grown registration system and address the complex and ever-changing needs of a diverse user community. We also had to create some custom ILM management agents to connect to e-Learning and library and information systems including Blackboard and ALEPH. We're delighted with the final outcome and believe it will transform the way King's College London works; easing significantly the burden on administrative staff."

“King’s College London’s selection of Omada for such a unique implementation is an attestation to Omada’s award winning solution and its capabilities to deliver an effective user management solution to higher education customers,” said Michael Gomez, US Markets & UK Country Manager of Omada.
